It's quite an honor when you're tapped to sing a little song for the president of the United States. The Jonas Brothers, however, are quite popular themselves and the recent White House ceremony for Paul McCartney was likely just another concert, albeit with some pretty important people in the crowd. After President Obama presented the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the Jonas Brothers took the stage for a rendition of the Beatles' "Drive My Car." The Jonas Brothers released their full-length debut album It's about Time in August 2006. Almost immediately the family act generated fans, especially among the tween crowds across the nation. With their sophomore album, the brothers found even more success and after its release in 2007 they went on to appear on various Disney channel programs, eventually collaborating on a reality television show called Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream, which documented the boys' lives and experiences on the road. They continued their onscreen presence with the film Camp Rock in 2008 and furthered their music career with the release of A Little Bit Longer, which prompted the hit single "Burnin' Up."
The band's most recent album to hit shelves and generate singles on airwaves around the world was Lines, Vines and Trying Times. It was their fourth studio album, which is quite impressive considering that it had been only three years prior that the Jonas Brothers released their debut. And it's not as if the boys have been lazing around since. Packed full of catchy tunes like "Fly with Me," "Hey Baby" and "What Did I Do to Your Heart," the album signifies the continuing success of one of best pop bands on the scene.
The Jonas Brothers were young and inexperienced when they first tried out their chops in the music industry. But nothing could deter them from following their dreams to the top of the charts. These days throngs of screaming teenage fans greet them at concerts around the world. It is also a fairly good sign that you've reached the top when you are invited to perform for the president and his family, honoring no less one of the more legendary figures in recent pop culture history.
