How long can or should you charge a 6-cell Lithium-Ion battery?
My mom just bought a compaq presario laptop it has a 6-cell Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery and she was wondering if you can plug it up a leave it plugged up all night even if it is full and how long does it take to fully charge one up to fully charge and when it is fully charged should she unplug it after it's charged.
For I have heard of some batteries exploding when they are charging.
Some people do leave their batteries over night, but personally I would not. It only takes a couple of hours to charge the battery so if you leave it on all night depending on your computer and the way they made it, it might continue to try and pack power into your battery, it might not. But to keep the battery good for as long as possible it's best not to leave it plugged in if it is charged. Personally I do not like to leave mine plugged in long and I have a 12cell. I would not want to risk over heating or diminish the life of the battery.
