Dell 3100Cn - Color Laser Printer With Optional Duplexing
The Dell 3100cn color laser printer is virtually the same device as its sister unit, the 3000cn, in almost every way save one. The Dell 3100cn offers expandability options in the form of option packages from Dell that can increase paper storage capacity, as well as add duplex functionality to the unit, whereas the 3000cn cannot.
Both units come equipped standard with a 250 sheet paper drawer, yet, with the option pack, the Dell 3100cn is upgradable with an additional 500 sheet drawer, drastically increasing potential paper storage. Dell’s revolutionary toner management software assists in toner service on all levels, providing not only low toner alerts directly to PCs on the network, but also allowing purchases of new cartridges to be processed directly from the software itself, reducing the hassle of searching online, though third party vendors often offer discounted rates.
With the support and backing of Dell’s quality assurance program, users can rest easy thanks to 1 year warranties included. If longer periods of protection are desired, additional years of coverage, up to a total of four, can be purchased. Dell’s coverage is not simply product replacement, but also 24 hour technical support, and next day on site repair service that ensures that your product will be up and running with a minimal downtime if problems do occur, though, with a 45,000 page maximum monthly duty cycle, complications should be few and far between, even under stressful conditions.
The Dell 3100cn offers a very fast monochrome print speed of 25 pages per minute for A4 paper, though color print time suffers severely at only 5 pages per minute. Due to the nature of color printing, when considering differences in coverage percentages, even these figures may prove to be high. That being said, the printer itself performs well in all other categories, with 600 x 600 dot per inch print resolution, and built in memory of 64MB standard, expandable to 576 MBs, making it a great buy for users who would like to incorporate color printing capabilities into their hardware set, and don’t require high end speed.
